Dr. Saraceni received her MD degree from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro in 1982 and her PhD degree in Public Health from Fundação Oswaldo Cruz in 2005. She is currently a Transmissible Diseases Coordination Assistant for the Health Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro and colaborator in the National DST and AIDS Program of the Brazilian Ministry of Health.

Dr. Saraceni's research activities are related to Colective Health, focusing on Epidemiology and public health services assessment, especially regarding HIV/AIDS, TB/HIV co-infection, HIV vertical transmission, congenital syphilis and occupational risk to bloodborne pathogens.
